The Resource Center now offers free life skills classes for young people ages 13-24.

The Resource Center started hosting life skills classes every other Thursday. Young adults can join at 11:00 AM, while youth are invited to participate at 3:00 PM. These classes are open to anyone ages 13–24, though new participants need to complete a simple intake form before joining.

The goal of these sessions is to equip youth and young adults with meaningful, everyday skills that build confidence, independence, and healthier futures. The classes on life skills may include a variety of topics for personal growth:

  • Time Management – Learning how to prioritize and balance responsibilities helps reduce stress and make room for what matters most.
  • Job Preparation – From writing resumes to practicing interviews, these skills prepare young people for career opportunities.
  • Self-Care – Developing routines that support mental and physical health builds resilience for challenges that happen day to day.
  • Setting Healthy Boundaries – Empowering young people when to say “no” to create safer, stronger relationships.
  • Health and Hygiene – Good personal habits improve well-being, confidence, and overall quality of life.
  • Substance Use Awareness – Honest discussions provide tools for prevention and recovery, promoting healthier choices.
  • Communication Styles – Understanding different ways of expressing oneself fosters respect and better connections with others.
  • Healthy Relationships – Recognizing the difference between healthy and unhealthy dynamics, and knowing how to nurture healthy relationships, builds a strong foundation for the future.
  • Suicide Prevention – Sharing resources and strategies helps reduce stigma and supports those in crisis.

By attending, young people not only learn these skills but also connect with peers and supportive mentors in a safe environment. Together, these lessons help build stronger, healthier lives, one step at a time.
